When I have down time, I love a good read. So I thought it would be the perfect moment around Valentines to revisit some classic romance novels. This is Day 2 of 9 Days of Valentines – read romance novels!
9 Days of Valentines – Day 2: Read Romance Novels
Reading has become such an underrated activity these days. However, since I tend lean on the more traditional, classic side and hold high value for the arts, I love books, especially classic romance novels. And no, I’m not referring to your 50 Shades of Grey either. I’m hinting at timeless classics like Pride and Prejudice or Wuthering Heights. I’m also a sucker for anything Nicholas Sparks. There’s just something therapeutic and emotional about reading that Netflix and bubble baths can’t beat. If you haven’t made time to indulge in a good classic novel lately, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time! In celebration of the month of love, here are all the great reasons why everyone should read romance novels:
ONE
Escape from Reality
Living in a world as we are today is harsh and it can make us bitter. A few pages worth of a classic romance novel allows us to escape into a completely different time. As you read and digest from a third person perspective, you find hope from the story and gain reassurance that everything will be fine.
TWO
Embrace your sensitive side
After being in relationships for so long or falling out of a bad one, we sometimes forget what it means to connect and to truly feel. This is one of my favorite reasons why everyone should read romance novels – because it allows you to feel passionate emotions. From happiness to forgiveness, romance novels bring your sensitive side to surface and make you a more empathetic person.
THREE
Be a More Romantic Partner
Interaction between two individuals is the driving force in romance novels. Being able to see and feel two sides of relationship can provide insight into how you can become a better romantic partner for your significant other. One of my favorite things to do as I read is situate myself in the place of the characters. Once I’ve put the book down, I then reflect on my real relationship and attempt to become the ideal lover I want to be.
FOUR
Re-Inspire Desire and Intimacy
Last but not least, the best reason why everyone should read romance novels is because it re-inspires imagination and makes you desire your partner in a different wholesome way. Naturally, relationships can become stale over time. I always find that romance novels boost my mood which makes me want to try new experiences and surprise my partner in ways he wouldn’t expect. We can all use more relaxing and intimate moments together – and romance books really stimulate this.
Whether you’re spending your Valentine’s Day with friends or with your loved one, it’s never too late to pick up a classic read!

Have you read Day 1 of 9 Days of Valentines?
hi there.
Coincidentally I happened to have started reading after a gap of 20 years. I didn’t realise on what I am missing until now 2018. I just finished reading a book called Scars Do Heal with storyline on a girl who was raped and refusing to start life afresh after she bumps into someone. So it has a light romance which I loved and kept wanting to know more on their relationship. So when i saw your post, you described all I felt from that book. I have now started a search on simple easy reading books as I can’t engage into heavy materials. Would you have any interesting reads to suggest please? 🙂
