The Parisian accessory has officially made its return and it’s quickly becoming a cult-favorite among fashion it-girls. I’m loving this fun addition, so I’m excited to show you how to wear a beret in 2017.
HOW TO WEAR A BERET IN 2017
The thought of wearing a beret might have you thinking about military officials or an old French mime, but there are several good reasons to get your hands on one now. Whether your style is feminine, edgy, uptown, or bohemian, I think you’ll be surprised to see how versatile this minor accessory can be. It was prevalent across the runways and even a top pick among street style stars, which prove that the trend is here to stay. It’s also the perfect addition when your hair just isn’t cooperating.
I’m sure you already have a variety of pieces in your closet that would look amazing when complemented with the beret. Be creative and have fun… For instance, berets add a contemporary tres chic appeal when worn with over the knee boots, but it can look a bit whimsy if you push it off center. Donning the right material can also give it a slight lady-like upgrade – like tweed or boucle. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different looks, proportions, and textures. If you’re unsure of where to start, here’s how to wear a beret in 2017:
Go for Black
The black beret is probably the most natural one to wear because it’s an understated classic! Black berets look great when you’re dressed in basics like a cashmere sweater and trousers or a LBD. If you want to incorporate a mod update, pick one with details you wouldn’t typically expect, such as embellishments. The beret I’m wearing is adorned with silver grommets. I find that these newer styles suit trendier, casual outfits like a camouflage sweater and pink boots. Notice how my ensemble doesn’t feel very military at all despite the beret’s association with camouflage?
Color Coordinate
Street style stars proved to us that there’s no such thing as wearing too much color. A colored beret is the perfect way to top off your look as long as you coordinate properly. From red and teal to maroon and camel, the colored beret knows how to add a fun and playful touch. If your style is preppier and traditional, go for a monochromatic look and mix a cream beret with a beige and blush outfit. If you’re not afraid to stand out, a red beret looks great with a breton top, leather jacket, and jeans.
Mix It Up
Berets have also become widely available in different prints, patterns, and textures. I’ve seen plaid, floral, and even glitter! If you’re a mix master, a geometric patterned dress could work flawlessly with a floral hat. Glitter is a huge trend right now, so if you’re not afraid to push the envelope, there’s nothing with a sparkly cap. Berets also come in various fabrics like wool and knit. So take your pick whether it’s a thick cable knit or snip of cashmere.
How are you rocking the beret now?

Thank you so much! :)))
This is such a fabulous post. Now i have to add beret to my fashion wishlist, in addition to the newsboy cap and vinyl! You look so stunning, what a chic use of camo ( a pattern I usually don’t like) by pairing it with a beret and on-trend red boots! I also love that street style look you pulled up with the pink and orange!

Thank you so much Zoe! Newsboy caps are a favorite of mine too!
Love the beret as it adds a chic detail. But those boots are to die for, especially the red one in the first pic!
