It’s been a couple months since I visited the beautiful city of Budapest. I wish I could visit again soon because there were so many beautiful spots in Budapest. The main attractions would definitely be Fisherman’s Bastion, Chain Bridge, Buda Castle, the Citadel and the Parliament Building but there are so many other spots too! Today I want to share with you 13 most Instagrammable spots in Budapest, Hungary.
13 Most Instagrammable Spots in Budapest, Hungary
1. Fisherman’s Bastion
Fisherman’s Bastion is a MUST when visiting Budapest. It is without a doubt one of the most Instagrammable spots in Budapest! There are so many photo ops here and every shot will guarantee to wow people! Get there early, around 8am, for empty shots, or else be prepared to battle for a spot with hundreds of other tourists! In case you brought a change of outfit, there is a Starbucks nearby where you can change!
2. New York Cafe
New York Cafe is considered to be the most beautiful cafe in the world and I can totally see why! The cafe is located inside Boscolo Hotel and although the website says it opens 9am-12pm, it actually starts serving breakfast at 8am! This place is built and decorated like a true palace and fit for royalty. The first time we went there was an event being held on the top floor so I was unable to get my desired shot (below). So we went again on the last day before we left Budapest at 8am and were lucky to find the places reasonably empty. If you get there after 9am beware that there could be a long wait in order to get seated! If in doubt, make a reservation beforehand.
3. Chain Bridge
When I went about taking photos with my photographer, she said that Chain Bridge is the most beautiful bridge in Europe and I don’t disagree! Chain bridge is stunning during the day but even more amazing at night as it lights up to illuminate the city. There are many spots on or around Chain Bridge from which you can capture its beauty. I found a cute little chair by the bridge not far from Sofitel Budapest where Mister D and I took this shot.
4. Ven Hajo Restaurant by Chain Bridge
While we were taking our shot of Chain Bridge, we walked further down the pier and found a “Budapest” sign which I thought would make for a perfect Insta-worthy shot. If you have more time to spare, you can also try the dinner at Ven Hajo restaurant which is inside a boat parked by the pier. From there you can dine with amazing views of the Chain Bridge.
5. Dunarama Private Danube River Boat Cruise
I love to discover cities and towns with private boat tours, so I chose to partner with Dunarama for a short cruise along Danube River. Dunarama was easy to find along the pier, further down from Sofitel. Their boat rides are all private in their luxurious boats and offer amazing views of the city. Despite being a short ride, we were able to capture a couple shots from our boat of the beautiful Hungarian Parliament Building.
6. Hungarian Parliament Building
Speaking of the Hungarian Parliament Building, it is definitely one of the most Instagrammable spots in Budapest, if not all of Hungary! We stayed in an apartment right next to the parliament building with a direct view (review coming soon!). I particularly love the red color of the parliament building which makes it super photogenic. At night it also lights up beautifully.
7. Citadella & Gellért Hill
Gellért Hill is a high hill that overlooks the Danube River. At the top of the hill is the Citadella which offers views down both directions of the Danube. We didn’t manage to make it here on our trip but I saw so many gorgeous photos on Instagram from these places. An iPhone camera won’t do any justice for views this far up so make sure to bring a long lens (100mm or longer) to capture the beautiful views.
8. Buda Castle
Another place from which you can see sweeping views of the city is Buda Castle. I would suggest to come here after visiting Fisherman’s Bastion as it is within walking distance. Here you can capture beautiful photos of both the Chain Bridge and the parliament building. In addition to the amazing views there are also several museums that you can enjoy here.
9. Szechenyi Thermal Bath
Even before visiting Hungary I had heard that it is a “bathing world-power”. Szechenyi Thermal Bath is one of the largest bath complexes of Europe with 21 pools and various healthcare and wellness services. The beautiful yellow colors and aqua blue waters are what make it so Instagrammable. Mister D and I are not thrilled by the idea of bathing with so many other people so we skipped this spot but if bathing is your thing then you must visit a thermal bath in Budapest!
10. Across the River from the Hungarian Parliament Building
If Chain Bridge is the most beautiful bridge in Europe then the Hungarian Parliament Building is, to me, the most beautiful parliament building in Europe. There are so many places from which you can capture its beauty, and one of such places is across the river at Batthyány tér (Budapest Metro). Here you can get the perfectly framed shot of the entire parliament building and the river. You can also walk along the paths that lead towards Fisherman’s Bastion and capture the parliament building from there.
11. Aria Hotel Budapest
Aria Hotel is located near St Stephen’s Cathedral and has a rooftop bar with views of the cathedral roof. When we visited there were no yellow couches as pictured below, but they do make some delicious cocktails!
12. Vintage Garden
Vintage Garden is a beautiful restaurant in Budapest that takes its “Instagrammability” to the next level! I was in awe at the beautiful pink cherry blossom decor at Vintage Garden when we visited and also pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was! This place offers so many photo ops for all those girly girls/bloggers out there.
13. Hilda
My boyfriend and I randomly found Hilda while we were strolling nearby our apartment we rented. I was immediately attracted by its art deco vibes and luscious jewel tones. It is a little dark inside, but extremely beautiful. We came here twice and would definitely recommend this spot for any visitors looking for delicious food and chic dining vibes.
