Sleeves, sleeves, sleeves. It’s all about sleeves this season. So far I’ve already written a post about voluminous sleeves (read HERE) and bell sleeves (read HERE) and now we’re going to talk about trumpet sleeves! Actually, despite having majored in Fashion Design, I had to look up the difference between bell sleeves and trumpet sleeves. The answer I’ve found, according to Fashionpeda by Fashionary, is actually that it’s the same thing. Uh, okay. Well I guess they all fall under the same category of being flared sleeves.
Today’s amazingly long sleeved shirt is by a contemporary Taiwanese designer Athena Chuang. I love that this shirt not only has these gorgeous sleeves, but also has delicate lace cut-outs and lace trim lining a cropped hem. The play with length (of the sleeves vs the cropped hem) is interesting and makes it much more dynamic than any regular white shirt. I recently came across Athena Chuang’s line while shopping in the Xinyi district in Taipei. Her designs were unique and limited in numbers so I snatched up a couple shirts and a dress.
I rarely ever come down to Battery Park City and this is actually the first time I walked into Battery Park! I had no idea that it had such a gorgeous view and cute promenade. Sometimes life gets so busy in New York that you forget there are so many beautiful locations you haven’t yet discovered. That also is the beauty of the city – no matter how long you’ve been here you’ll always find something new you never knew about the city to love.
Here in the Financial District you’ll find your typical “finance guy” jogging along the promenade on weekend mornings. Sometimes there are also young couples pushing around strollers because this is also a reasonably quiet and clean area. Probably not so many fashionistas or bloggers around here so I definitely got a few stares.
Today’s outfit’s subtheme is lace up detail. This super cool leather jacket is by Chloe Chen, another contemporary Taiwanese designer, and I was sold the moment I saw this lace up detail along the sleeves. To complete the lace up subtheme I wore my lace up Giambattista Valli boots which were featured in an earlier post.
