Ohh, W Shanghai… How do I even begin? Recently I had the pleasure of staying at W Hotel in Shanghai and it was such an amazing experience! It doesn’t just have the best hotel views in Shanghai, but also amazing amenities, exciting night life and delicious gourmet.
W Shanghai – The Best Hotel Views in Shanghai
Room and View
So let’s begin this hotel review with the most important things shall we? – the room and the view! We stayed in a “Spectacular Room” facing the river. The room featured high ceilings and spectacular windows that offered a sweeping view of the iconic Shanghai skyline – definitely one of the best hotel views in Shanghai! The room is extremely spacious and comes with a separate shower room and bathtub (always a plus!). One thing I loved about the room is all the small but fun elements that made it a vibrant and exciting room to stay in. This may not be a top choice for elder couples looking for a quiet stay, but if you are energetic and and you love to have fun this is the hotel for you! The entire hotel actually makes me feel like I’m in a nightclub!
The Hotel and its Amenities
The moment you walk into W Shanghai, it’s almost a sensory overload. Their decor is luxurious but modern and funky with colors such as purple, pink and red being their dominant colors. I was immediately greeted with friendly staff who had the biggest smiles on their faces. Their uniform in particular caught my attention! The ladies were all wearing chic bomber jackets with a colorful print – definitely the best uniform I’ve seen at a hotel!
During your stay you can choose to swim in their indoor Wet Pool or their outdoor pool. It was winter when we were visiting so we were only able to swim indoors. The outdoor pool is often a hotspot for photos because it offers a stunning view. Didn’t I say W Shanghai has the best hotel views in Shanghai? I’ll let the photos speak for themselves…
After our quick dip at the Wet Pool we went to AWAY® Spa for a one hour facial treatment. I got the Venus Versa treatment and my skin felt completely rejuvenated after my facial. I had never seen my skin glow like that and was amazed by the results! And, of course, our spa room had an amazing view as well!
The Food and the Nightlife
WOOBAR
W Hotels are generally known for their vibrant scene and nightlife and W Shanghai is no exception. During our stay we were able to get the full experience with our first stop being WOOBAR. Here we tried four signature cocktails, each with a fascinating story, created by their Chief Mixologist, Dylan Lam. Every cocktail was an exquisite work of art with the most delicious tastes. This is the perfect bar to bring a group of friends for a bit of pre-game drinks.
Liquid at YEN
Our second bar that we visited was Liquid at YEN. Liquid is on the 6th floor, above W Shanghai’s Chinese restaurant YEN. It offers amazing views of the skyline as well as gorgeous drinks that are inspired by famous or even mystical characters of Shanghai. This bar reminds me of the 1920s speakeasies of Shanghai with its more discreet location and dimly lit vibes. This is the go-to bar for quiet and upscale date nights with your loved one!
Social Retox Brunch at The Kitchen Table
Our last meal before we left the hotel was Social Retox Brunch at The Kitchen Table. Every Sunday, The Kitchen Table would change up their decor, put up balloons and have live performances during these brunch hours. Here you have a choice of 3 set prices – without alcohol, with cocktails/wines/brews, and with champagne on top of all the other beverage offerings. This was by far the best meal I had during our entire Shanghai trip and the most decadent! We were served starters, small plates, bread, a large seafood platter and an entree dish. If you can handle all the food and wanted more, they had all-you-can-eat dessert as well!
Overall
Overall W Shanghai had to be one of my favorite hotel experiences thus far with the best hotels views in Shanghai. The amenities, food, beverages and service are without doubt top notch. It is also the perfect destination for young and trendy individuals who love to party. Be sure to check out W Shanghai if you are visiting Shanghai – you won’t regret it!
