I know it doesn’t sound believable, but it is possible to pile on layers and look fashionable when it’s freezing cold outside. If you don’t know where to start, I’ll be sharing 6 essential pieces for a stylish winter outfit in NYC.
6 ESSENTIAL PIECES FOR A STYLISH WINTER OUTFIT IN NYC
Visiting the Big Apple between late December through early March can be dangerous territory if you’re not equipped with the right gear. From the right base layers to the outer most piece, every single garment matters. As I mentioned in this post, winter outfits don’t have to be all basic and bulky. I’ve got the right pieces to help you walk the line of cozy and chic, and be sure to take note because New York Fashion Week is only about a month away now. If it’s your first time attending (or visiting NYC in general), this list will provide the perfect starting point.

Don’t let the snow stop you from looking your best. Here are my essentials list to nail a stylish winter outfit in NYC:
1. Faux Fur Coat
I’ve learned over the years that aside from your down puffer coat, many of your coat selections won’t make the cut to survive the NYC cold. Another fashionable option that does is the faux fur coat. I’m currently obsessed with faux fur coats at the moment (you can get my favorites here under $200), and I’ve racked up quite the collection this season. They’re perfect for serving a street style moment and keeping you warm. And they’re the easiest way to dress up a winter outfit.
2. Knit Hat
Another fashion obsession for me this year has been pom pom beanies! Aside from functioning as both a head and ear warmer, they’re super charming and will exude a cheerful winter look. It’s an inexpensive and simple accessory that makes a stylish winter outfit.
3. Heattech Tights
If you didn’t think you could wear skirts or dresses in the winter, now you can with heattech tights. (Note: You can also wear them under pants.) They offer a ton of warmth and flexibility – and are basically everything you need for long winter commutes.
4. Heattech Top
Like heatteach tights, heattech tops are made for surviving the brutal cold. You’ll need this for layering under knits or button-down shirts. Most heattech tops feature a smooth texture that’s undetectable underneath other garments. They feel incredibly soft on the skin and will surely keep you heated. Be sure to always wear this as your first layer. My go-to brand for heattech items is UNIQLO.
5. Gloves
There’s no questioning whether or not you should wear gloves. Luckily, they’re now tech-friendly so you can Instagram away while keeping your hands warm if needed. From mittens to leather-tech and insulated options, there’s no excuse to skip out on this winter essential.
6. Scarf
The scarf is a WINTER MUST. It’s non-negotiable accessory that makes all the difference in the world when it comes to walking the streets of NYC (even if you’re only walking one block). Wrap it all the way up to your chin, over your head, or around your body and you’ll feel nice and toasty. Cashmere is the softest material that will keep you warm throughout winter! My favorite brand for cashmere anything is Eric Bompard.

Always love your style, Tina ❤️ What about boots? My feet are always cold, so fur-lined one’s are my favourite! Gorgeous shots as ever! Really enjoyed it Nx
