Two weeks ago I was invited to stay at Fairmont Royal York, a luxury hotel centrally located in Toronto city, and I am so excited to share with you this amazing experience! We enjoyed VIP treatment as Fairmont Gold members, challenged ourselves to the Edge Walk on CN Tower, flew in a private jet and partied with Toronto’s elite at Fairmont Royal York’s 90th anniversary birthday celebration.

About Fairmont Royal York

Fairmont Royal York is a prestigious hotel and landmark of Toronto, situated right across from Union Station in the heart of the city. Prior to becoming The Royal York in 1929, it was known by other hotel names and underwent several refurbishments and renovations. Now, celebrating it’s 90th anniversary, Fairmont Royal York went through a transformational renovation and reopened its doors with a brand new lobby, lobby bar, restaurant REIGN, Fairmont Gold Lounge, and Gold suites. This hotel is prestigious not only for its history and luxury, but also because this is the Queen’s choice of accommodation whenever she visits Toronto!

CLOCKWORK + REIGN

In addition to its Library Bar, Steakhouse and Piper’s Pub, Royal York Hotel reopened its lobby bar called CLOCKWORK and also introduced REIGN – a modern Canadian Brasserie with a traditional French touch. We enjoyed several delicious meals at REIGN and had the best cocktails at CLOCKWORK! My favorite drink is called “Meet me at the Clock” – one of CLOCKWORK’s signature drinks!

Fairmont Gold Lounge

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were able to check in swiftly and privately at the new Fairmont Gold Lounge. The concept of the Gold Lounge is that it is a “hotel within a hotel”, meaning you have everything you need at the lounge – food, beverages, check-in, check-out, concierge services, work space, and more. During our stay, we spent a lot of time at the lounge because it had everything we needed! I particularly loved the upscale decor which combined gold and blue – two colors that represent royalty.

Fairmont Gold Suites

My favorite part about the hotel was our spacious and stunning suite. Modern, but with hints of art deco, the Gold Suites are totally renovated to provide ultimate comfort for guests. We were welcomed with snacks, drinks and even a customized bathrobe and toiletries! Just when I thought the hotel couldn’t get anymore thoughtful, I discovered that the shower had aromatherapy pods where you can choose your desired aroma, place it into the shower and enjoy your aromatic shower. Each time I came out of the shower I smelt divine (if I may say so myself!), and falling asleep to the scent was the best treat after a long and eventful day.

90th Anniversary Celebration

I feel like I have been raving about the hotel’s new features so much that I’ve forgotten to tell you about the main reason why we were in Toronto! On Monday 6/24, Fairmont Royal York held its 90th anniversary party in the most grand fashion possible. All of Toronto’s elite and media came to the event to celebrate the hotel’s birthday. We had our photos snapped professionally at a portrait booth, watched a fashion show, enjoyed delicious finger foods and sipped on our cocktails well into the night.

Activities in Toronto

In addition to staying at the newly transformed Fairmont Royal York, Ontario also offers many attractions and activities for visitors such as the Edge Walk at CN Tower or visiting wineries at Niagara on the Lake. I have been to CN Tower before when I visited Toronto 5 years ago, but this was my first time walking on the edge of the tower!! The adrenaline junkie in me LOVED this experience – it was both terrifying and exhilarating!!

Another fun activity to do while you’re in Ontario is to visit Niagara on the Lakes where you can wine, dine and relax. With Fairmont Gold, hotel guests can make special discounted bookings via the concierge service, and fly private from Toronto to Niagara on the Lake. We were lucky enough to receive such VIP service, flying to Peller Estate Winery to enjoy their 3-course lunch tasting, followed by a winery tour. During our winery tour we visited their Ice Bar, which is maintained at -10 degrees celsius throughout the year. What a unique experience! Naturally, I had to take off the puffer jacket they provided us and take a photo in a mini dress. 😛

To Conclude

Visiting Toronto with Fairmont Royal York truly was an amazing experience. Not only was the hotel beautiful and luxurious, the entire staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed and more. If you are visiting the city and you want a glimpse into Toronto’s history and live like a royal, then Fairmont Royal York is your top hotel choice. I definitely recommend staying in the Fairmont Gold Suite – you won’t regret it!
