If you’ve been following my blog and my travels, you’ll know that I always strive to find hotel rooms with the best views. This time I’ve found the hotel with the best views of Palais Garnier – Intercontinental Paris Le Grand!
INTERCONTINENTAL PARIS LE GRAND
The Best Views of Palais Garnier
On my previous trip to Paris, I stayed at Shangri-La Paris, where I had a suite with the best views of the Eiffel Tower. This time, I decided to change up the view, and book a room at Intercontinental Paris Le Grand.
LOCATION
Intercontinental Paris Le Grand is a hotel with over a hundred years of history located right next to Opéra (or Palais Garnier). This location doesn’t just offer rooms with the best views of Palais Garnier but is also SUPER convenient for sightseeing. You can walk to most of the major attractions including Palais Garnier, Musee du Louvre, Palais Royal, Place Vendome and more within 15 minutes. The metro is also right next to the hotel, allowing for convenient travels to any desired destination.
The best part about staying here for me was the convenience to all the department stores! Within 5 minutes walk, you will arrive at Galerie Lafayette and Printemps. The best thing about being close to these two department stores is that they are both open on Sundays, whilst all other boutiques in Paris are closed. If you want to shop individual boutiques, you could easily walk to Place Vendome for some high end jewelry, or to Rue Cambon (where Chanel’s flagship store is located – 31 Rue Cambon) and Rue Saint Honore for more clothing and accessories.
SERVICE
I experienced stellar service from the moment I checked into Intercontinental Paris Le Grand to the moment I checked out. I showed a photo of the view I wanted from my room to my receptionist Kareem and he was able to find the nearest room with a similar view. Throughout my stay, all the staff I encountered were friendly and polite.
CAFE DE LA PAIX
Cafe de la Paix is the hotel restaurant that services the hotel. It is a famous cafe that is not just beautiful but also very large! It is said that if you sit here long enough, you are bound to bump into a friend or acquaintance because of how popular the place is!
THE ROOM & THE VIEW
The room I chose was the “Deluxe Room with Opera House View”. There are two large windows that lead to the balcony – one from the room and the other from the bathroom. Because the hotel was constructed in the 19th century, the windows were somewhat dated and the curtains did not always cooperate. But nonetheless the remainder of the room (most importantly, the bathroom) functioned well and was very clean. And of course, the view was STUNNING. I will let the photos speak for themselves!
*NOTE: If you want a view of the front of the Opera House, when booking the room, make sure to specify that. Not all of the rooms with a view of the Opera House offer a front-on amazing view of Palais Garnier. Some only offer views of the side (although they are quite beautiful too!)*
