I may not strike you as a blazer girl but when I find one that is feminine and fashion-forward, you can consider me in. My style sense is usually flirty, bold, and vibrant and today’s outfit embodies it perfectly. The catch is the statement blazer, which I’ll be showing you how to wear today.
How to Wear Statement Blazers

I prefer statement blazers over basic colored ones because they can pass for being more casual but you can still wear them at the office. I no longer work in an office setting; however, I still try to shop practically, grabbing pieces that work in various contexts. The blazer is one of those unique items. Besides, they’re so on trend these days. When you combine that one garment with some of Spring’s top fashion trends, such as stripes and color, you get a street-style worthy piece that can be worn in multiple ways. Here’s how to wear statement blazers this season:
1. Mix it with contrasting prints or colors
Colors and patterns spice everything up and it heightens when you mix the item with other contrasting prints and patterns. Today’s outfit is the perfect example of that. My striped blazer has vertical blocks of pink, white, and black. I chose to contrast against those vertical stripes with a traditional breton top (horizontal stripes). It creates an interesting juxtaposition that catches the eye because you don’t know whether to look from side to side or up and down. Other ways to do this would be mixing a leopard print blazer with a bright yellow dress or a plaid one with florals.

2. Wear it with jeans
Statement blazers are perfect for mixing with denim because you can achieve various outcomes. For example, if you wanted a business casual (or casual Friday) outfit, you can pair a statement blazer with skinny jeans and pointed toe pumps as I did. For your top, a button down or fitted turtleneck would be sufficient. But if you wanted an off-duty look, a statement blazer would look great with boyfriend jeans or denim cutoffs and a slouchy t-shirt. Both are great spring and summer outfits!
3. Personalize your accessories
What I mean by personalizing your accessories is mixing in fun accent pieces that will make this universal style your own. I’m on a hat and eyewear high, so of course I added a pink beret and pink sunglasses! This outfit came out so much more playful than if I added a structured work bag and a leather belt. Other ways to accessorize would be wearing sneakers and a baseball cap or a fedora and espadrilles.
4. Layer up
New York City stays frigid until May so layers are important the first four months of the year. This is a great opportunity to layer a statement blazer under wool or trench coats. You can also wear them over flowy maxi dresses if you can’t wait to get started on Spring trends. When stuck in a bundle, shoes are my favorite way to jazz it up!
