Happy New Year! I cannot believe 2016 flew by like that. I hope everyone has had a rewarding and satisfying 2016. For me it’s been extremely eventful and busy, especially since September when I decided to start my blog. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled to France, Turks & Caicos, Russia, Taiwan & Japan this year and spent wonderful time with my family and friends. I am sure that 2017 will also be full of adventures and challenges and I embrace it with excitement and anticipation! I wish everybody a wonderful 2017 🙂

As we enter 2017, New York also is getting colder and colder. It’s always a challenge to layer for winter, stay warm and still look chic. Here are some tips on how to layer for winter!

CHOOSE SHADES OF THE SAME COLOR

Choose 1 or 2 colors and layer with just those colors. Vary the shades but try to keep the them all within the same color temperature. So, for example, if you were layering with the color grey, try not to mix warm grey with cool grey. I like to go for warmer colors because I think it works better with my skin tone, in my opinion.

LAYER WITH DIFFERENT TEXTURES

Layering with different textures is particularly helpful in creating depth when you have a monotone outfit. I always like to layer wool with suede because I think they are a natural fit. You can also add some fur, velvet or shiny leather to make your outfit pop more.

KEEP IT TIGHT

When I’m wearing multiple layers in winter I always try to wear something tight either on the top or on the bottom to avoid looking like a round ball of fabric. Here I am wearing tights with skin tight boots.
