So you want to know how to dress for a party in NYC? Over the four and a half years I’ve been in New York I’ve accumulated several party-worthy outfits. And when you’re in a city like NYC, you’ll definitely need a good number of those.
BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK
The first thing to know is that in New York, BLACK can never go wrong. So naturally my first choice is to go for a little black dress. I’m sure we all have a few little black dresses as wardrobe staples, but this is the time to bring out that killer sexy dress that has never had the chance to make an appearance.
FLAUNT YOUR BEST ASSETS
Although it would be wise to not overdo it, less is not more in NYC. If you really want to stand out from the crowd, then you’ve got to flaunt your best assets. Today’s party attire is from Bebe and features a sequined mock neck with cutouts at just the right places. It is form-fitting and short enough for you to show off your legs and all your curves.
ADD A POP OF COLOR
To add a pop of color to the outfit I chose to pair it with Giuseppe Zanotti’s strappy patent red heels. My styling rule for heels is that if they are strappy or cut off your ankles then your dress must be short so as to not make your legs look truncated.
BRING A CLUTCH, ADD SOME SPARKLE
Today’s clutch is by Charlotte Olympia and is simply the most gorgeous clutch I’ve ever seen. The mini bar on top of the clutch is actually attached magnetically and can be removed – it’s like having two clutches in one! Lastly I like to add some sparkle or gold to the outfit by accessorizing. Because, after all, it’s a party!
