As I said in my last post, this was my first time at London Fashion Week and I was so impressed by the shows and presentations I attended. If you missed it, you can catch the first part of it here, but I’ll be sharing the remainder of the shows and presentations today. I’ve visited London before and even studied there at one point, but I’ve discovered newfound appreciation for the city this time. I’m already looking forward to the next season. But for now, we can absorb the luxe views of where I stayed and the shows I saw.
Fall Winter 2018 LFW Recap 2
Shangri-La The Shard
I was able to spend one night at the sumptuous Shangri-La The Shard and it was a memorable and pioneering experience. I don’t think you can find more panoramic views of the city.
The hotel doesn’t actually start until the 34th floor which is how you can get such amazing views. The facilities and services were unparalleled from the delicious breakfast buffet that featured western and eastern dishes to the surreal pool. I loved every bit of it. Additionally, every single person I interacted was so kind and respectful beyond my expectations, and that’s something I value highly no matter where I go.
The room itself was beautiful, roomy, and so modern with easy to control blinds. This was convenient for moments I needed to work or nap, which happens a lot when I’m traveling. It was a true 5-star experience and I’d recommend anyone stay here over and over again.
Camilla Elphick Shoe Presentation
I have always adored Camilla Elphick shoes for the playful, feminine designs, which isn’t surprising knowing she’s worked under some of the best shoe designers in London such as Nicholas Kirkwood, Sophia Webster and Charlotte Olympia. With my deep appreciation for ornate shoes, I definitely noticed and loved the ribbon details and glittery statement-making ones from this collection.
Merchant Archive Presentation
Merchant Archive was one of those presentations that just blew me away. It was fixated in a whimsical room with beautiful textural accents and made a great background for the collection. I have always looked up to designers who make great use of fabrics, and you can tell how much Sophie (the designer) appreciates textiles based on the the clothing and stage. The layers and ruffles were cut and draped in such a modern but elegant way, which is evidenced in the photos below.
Eudon Choi Fashion Show
The Eudon Choi show was full of blazing reds and a lot of romantic yet sturdy pieces. The outfits were carefully styled and layered, which I felt represented historical and modern British fashion very well. The wool jackets, deconstructed tops, and unique hems on the skirts were my particular favorites.
Alexander White Shoe Presentation
I was really surprised by the staging at the Alexander White Presentation with its strong 80s vibe. The mirrored disco balls and glossy shoes exacerbated the feeling and it was so entertaining to see. My favorite shoes where the pumps with the rumpled straps and glittery boots which personify some of the biggest trends of 2018.
Jamie Wei Huang
The last show I want cover is Jamie Wei Huang which was funky, fresh, and modern. Jamie’s use of drawstrings in the deconstructed knits and belt bags were unique additions I would have never thought of, and the primary colors were so symbolic of Chinese fashion and culture. I always love seeing designers bring culture into their designs and bold colors were a big one in this collection.
I hope you guys enjoyed my LFW recap and come back as I cover Milan Fashion Week soon! In case you missed it…
