I know I look like I’m always traveling the world and out discovering the most Instagrammable places wherever I go. However, I am secretly the biggest homebody and that’s why I love to enjoy a date night in on special occasions like Valentine’s Day.
9 Days of Valentine β Day 8: Have a Date Night In
Valentine’s Day is a fun time of the year to celebrate love. But it also has been far too commercialized with a premium slapped on top of dinner prices everywhere. I don’t believe that you need to go out and spend a fortune on expensive meals in order to enjoy the day. My boyfriend (Mr D) and I often like to spend our nights at home. It’s comfortable, warm and you get to cuddle! Here are some ideas for your Valentine’s Day this year so you can have a fun and romantic night at home.
ONE
Candle-lit Dinner
What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to cook for your other half? Cooking is a great way to express your love and gratitude. You can also cook together for a more engaging and fun experience! Cooking doesn’t have to be complicated, and if you don’t have time to shop for ingredients, you can use subscription services like Hello Fresh or Blue Apron. Another option is to simply order in. For our second year anniversary, Mr D and I simply ordered takeout, lit some candles and had a romantic date night in.
TWO
Picnic at Home
It may seem really corny, but having a picnic at home can actually be a new and interesting experience! Picnicking reminds me of my childhood days where I would picnic with my parents and brings back fond memories of fun times. It’s a creative way to change up the way you enjoy your meals and spend time together!
THREE
Movie Marathon
Who doesn’t love to binge watch movies or TV shows? Recently, Mister D and I discovered the Netflix show “Altered Carbon” and we binged watched the first season within 2 days! Does your partner love a particular TV show or movie series? Why not prepare a surprise date night in with a themed movie marathon? Whether your other half is a sci-fi lover (Star Trek, Matrix), car lover (Fast and the Furious) or Tolkien lover (The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings), there is something for him/her!
