Hip Hotel With Best Views in Taipei, Taiwan

Amba Songshan

Every year I visit my hometown and my parents at least once or twice. Usually I stay at home, but this time I scoured the internet to find a hotel with the best views in Taipei and that’s when I found Amba Songshan! My boyfriend, Mister D, and I had the pleasure of doing a 2 day staycation at Amba Songshan and explored the 101 neighborhood while we were there. Other than the pictures of the views that speak for themselves, there are several other things about Amba Songshan that I love…

LOCATION

Amba Songshan is located (surprise, surprise!) in the Songshan district, not far from the Xinyi District where Taipei 101, the most iconic building in Taipei, is located. This gives it one of the best vantage points for a room with a  Taipei 101 view. The hotel provides free shuttle buses to and from the hotel and the Xinyi area where everything is happening (food, bars, clubs, cinemas, shopping, etc). You can also hop onto a cab and be at Taipei 101 within 10 minutes. Furthermore, the Songshan district also has some interesting places to discover like Raohe Nightmarket and Wu Fen Pu, an inexpensive shopping heaven for young people.

DESIGN

Another thing that really blew me away about Amba Songshan was the thought that went into designing this hotel. Amba Hotels are best described as young, hip and modern. Their rooms are simple, but spacious and modern. Every design detail has their customer in mind. For instance, all rooms are equipped with super fast internet and the bathroom sinks are super spacious with the toiletries in a basket that can be easily moved around.

Also, To provide their customers with a fun experience, Amba Songshan designed each individual room number with a special graphic depicting a fun fact related to that number. So as you walk to find your room, you can look around and enjoy all the designs on every other room door. Our room was a 101 corner view room called the “Einstein Room” because our room number was 1905 and that’s Einstein’s “Miracle Year”. One more thing I love about Amba is that they always design with recycling in mind and source locally to support local businesses. As an example, they provided bright and fun flip flops that customers can take with them instead of disposable slippers that can only be used once.

COMMUNITY

Amba Songshan has a large common area where all hotel guests can gather, chat and have fun together. There is a ping pong table, foosball table (Mister D’s favorite!) and many sofas for guests to sit around. On New Years Eve all guests and non-guests can gather here, enjoy drinks and watch the New Year fireworks that always take place at Taipei 101.

COST

One last amazing thing about Amba Songshan is its cost. With rates starting around $100 USD, it is easily the most affordable hotel with the best views in Taipei! Why spend a fortune when you can have it all at Amba Songshan for a fraction of the cost of a 5 star hotel? ; )
