10 Most Instagrammable Spots in Istanbul, Turkey | Of Leather and Lace - Fashion & Travel Blog by Tina Lee | Istanbul travel beautiful places, istanbul photography, istanbul travel tips, istanbul instagram, istanbul travel outfits

After my first visit to Istanbul in August I’ve been in love with the city ever since. Every direction I turned, the city was beautiful. But there were some places that really left an impression on me. So today I am super excited to share with you the 10 most Instagrammable spots in Istanbul, Turkey.

10 Most Instagrammable Spots in Istanbul, Turkey

1. Blue Mosque

Number one most Instagrammable spot in Istanbul on my list has to go to Sultanahmet Camii, a.k.a. the Blue Mosque. It is simply one of the most awe-inspiring buildings I have ever laid eyes on. I am a complete symmetry lover so mosques like the Blue Mosque just make me so happy. Make sure to go as early as you can to avoid the crowd and get an empty shot!

2. Hagia Sofia

Another mosque that is high up on my list is Hagia Sofia, a.k.a. Aya Sofya. This mosque is within a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and is just as beautiful and venerable. If you have time, make sure to go inside and have a look. It’s not just beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well!

3. Dolmabache Palace

Dolmabache is a gorgeous palace in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul. It is a short tram ride away from Hagia Sofia. Built in the 19th century, the Dolmabache Palace is luxurious both on the inside and outside. Their gorgeous white gates facing the water are guaranteed to be Instagrammable from every angle!

4. Topkapi Palace – The Harem

Another palace that will wow people with its grandeur is the Topkapi Palace. This palace is so large it will take you at least half a day to see most of it. The most photo worthy room in the entire palace is the Topkapi Palace Harem. The intricate details and striking color combinations just blew my mind. We stayed in this room for at least 20 minutes just taking photos!

5. Ortakoy Mosque

Ortakoy Mosque was one of the beautiful places on my to-visit list that I didn’t get to see because it was further away from where we were staying. This area is often crowded but has an amazing view of the Bosphorus and the bridge.

6.Grand Bazaar

The Grand Bazaar was exactly what I had expected it to be. To me they were similar to the souks (markets) in Marrakech – busy, noisy and filled with all sorts of exotic souvenirs. If you manage to find a beautiful storefront, don’t forget to snap a shot like this:

7. Hotel Arcadia Blue

If you’ve followed my blog for a while then you’ll know that whenever I travel, I always seek out hotels with the BEST views. In Milan I had a view of the Duomo, in Positano we had private pools with views and in Paris I enjoyed a view of Palais Garnier from my balcony and a view of Eiffel Tower from my terrace. In Istanbul, I made sure to find a room with the most amazing view – Hotel Arcadia Blue. I booked the Double Room With A Sea View and I was blown away! You can see both the Blue Mosque AND Hagia Sofia directly from your hotel room. Also, make sure to enjoy a few meals on their rooftop restaurant because the panoramic view there is to die for as well.

8. A’YA Rooftop Lounge – Four Seasons Hotel at Sultanahmet

For those who love fancy (but expensive) cocktails with a view, make sure to check out A’YA Rooftop Lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel at Sultanahmet (not to be mistaken with the Four Seasons Hotel at the Bosphorous). With a glorious view of Hagia Sofia, who could resist taking a few snapshots here?

9. Sultanahmet Restaurant – Seven Hills Hotel

This one is for the early birds who like to enjoy their breakfast with a view. Sultanahmet Restaurant at the Seven Hills Hotel offers a terrace with a panoramic view of the entire city. Their breakfast buffet was inexpensive and had a huge variety of foods. I particularly loved the Turkish omelette. But who wouldn’t love their omelette when its with such awesome views?

10. Galata Tower

Last but not least, the Galata Tower offers some of the best views of Istanbul. It is one of the tallest and oldest towers in Istanbul. The tower rests in the Galata district which was deemed as Istanbul’s “Next Great Neighborhood” by a local guide on CN Traveler. All the more reason to visit!

So those were my top 10 most Instagrammable spots in Istanbul. Have they motivated you to visit (or revisit?) Istanbul yet? The best part about Istanbul isn’t just the views, though, it’s also the people. When I was there I felt welcomed and safe. All the people I came across were kind and helpful. I could not have asked for a better experience. Istanbul is now one of my top 3 favorite cities out of all the cities I’ve been to!

If you are visiting Turkey, make sure you also visit the magical Cappadocia. If you are looking for a place to stay, check out my recommendations for the best views:
